Ruby Tuesday's doesn't want our business

Via, the Blogfather, RNeal at KnoxViews (H/T to ACK):

A corporate headquarters spokesperson for Ruby Tuesday Restaurants told KnoxViews that the company has not issued a formal statement on recent legislation to allow handguns in Tennessee restaurants and bars, but that the company has no plans to change existing policies or to prohibit guests with permits from carrying handguns in their restaurants as long as they are complying with state law.

He said the issue will likely affect bars more than restaurants, and that in Ruby Tuesday's experience very few guests bring weapons to their restaurants where it is allowed. He said there are no plans to refuse service to guests legally carrying weapons or to attempt to determine if a guest is doing so. He also noted that guest safety is a top priority, and that management and staff are trained to take swift action to resolve potential threats. He also noted that the company has procedures in place to monitor alcohol consumption and management and servers are trained to avoid over serving.

  1. Of course they want your business. They want everyone's business.

You do not want to give them your business.

Unlike you, however, I am more than willing to admit that I do not want to give my business to restaurants that do not respect my natural right to self-defense.

    Interesting difference, that.

  2. Ditto on the first two post. If you folks want to cower in the corner with your children and hope for the best, do that. Stop trying to force me into the corner with you. I want to have the most effective means of self-defense at my finger tips that I can acquire. In a past day and age that might have been a sword, today that weapon is often a handgun.

Stop trying to force your phobias on everyone else. Spend some time at the range get familiar with firearms. Go on a ride along with the Sheriffs department. You will have a concealed weapons license soon after I promise you and hoplophobia will will trouble you no more.

Bad Guy #2: Nah man. They passed that new law where dudes can carry in restaurants. Some dude in there might pop a cap in us!

Bad guy #1: Oh yeah, no joke. Well I heard that Cheers at 627 North Lindell Street in Martin, TN has a sign up so dudes won't be carryin' in there. We can knock them over real easy like!

Bad Guy #2: Cool man, let's go! Maybe there will be a cute chick we can have our way with too!

  4. I am a gun owner and was thinking of busting up in a restaurant and popping a cap in some fool who doesn't know what time it is.

But since it's a gun-free zone, I don't want to risk going to jail for possession of a firearm.
